Yoga Teacher Training India Reviews

Yoga is an experience, isn’t it? You cannot describe yoga, but you can only feel the effects of yoga both on your body and mind. Therefore, to understand the experience of a person with a particular form of yoga or even a yoga school, it is crucial to listen to their experience. That is where the yoga reviews come in.

It is always better to take informed decisions rather than sulk over decisions taken in haste. We believe in that, and encourage all aspiring yogis willing to become a part of our yoga teacher training programs or yoga retreats, to listen to or read reviews by our former students. That way they’ll be able to have a clear picture of what they are about to experience once they decide to be a part of our yoga teacher training or for that matter, any other location.

For those of us who practice regularly and for those of us who are just starting our journey into the discipline of Yoga, Rishikul Yogshala provides an excellent haven for learning. Like all things-the experience is as good as you are determined to make it. The location of the school-Rishikesh-vibrates with a very special and palpable energy: the smell of fragrant spices meshes with that of cow dung, incense, musk, and mist. Curiosity peeks from every corner. At the end of your trip, you will have accumulated a myriad of selfies with locals and cows. The environment of the school is very welcoming. Students come from all parts of the world to create a supportive, disciplined, and dynamic energy. The professors are like guides that softly yet consequently, like lighthouses on a starry night, guide you towards refining your self-practice and learning how to teach your future students. Many are brilliant people who are there to share their knowledge with you at all points. The living conditions are very simplistic. If you are expecting luxury then this is definitely not the place for you. Monkeys like to take a peek into your room and little four-legged beetle friends make their way quite often into your room-nonetheless the amenities suffice. The food prepared by the school's canteen is simple but good. Although after a couple of weeks you will find yourself trying out little coffee houses (especially the peanut chocolate balls at the French bakery) to give yourself a little treat. Wifi and electricity work usually but you might find yourself stuck without power during the monsoon season due to the heavy rains. The teaching schedule is very packed ensuring that your days are fully loaded-even “free days” are engaging so make sure you don’t make any big plans that run parallel to your teacher training schedule (e.g. massage course, etc). Most of all beware what you eat outside of the school and try not to share food. The healthcare of the school is decent but it is definitely advisable to bring some medicine from home. The path of the yoga-the discipline of yoga is a long-term process-so don’t expect to become a guru by the end of your month!!! The aim of this teacher training is to keep an open mind and absorb as much knowledge as possible to share in the future. In Rishikesh, I definitely recommend Rishikul Yogashala. Make the most of everything and you will love it!

Our 1 week retreat at Rishikul Yogshala has been wonderful. The valuable learning experience from all the teachers here has not only enhanced my yoga practice but has promoted deep self awareness & life perspective. This week has helped open my heart, eyes & soul. Not only did we learn asana, pranayama, cleansing, philosophy, Ayurvedic, mantra, dance yoga & meditation... Thank you to Nitin Chotwani, Deepa Negi Mira, Krishna & the teacher trainer students who took us into their family at Rishikul Yogshala... you will forever be in our hearts

I'm blessed to have completed the 200 hr Yoga Teacher Training with the amazing teachers @ Rishikul Yogshala this past May. To me this has been a life changing experience that touched every aspect of my life. Rishikul Yogshala became my family and I miss them dearly but I have taken each and every one of them in my heart. Rishikul Yogshala is located in the lovely area of Ramjhula, a short walk away from Mother Ganga and holds breathtaking views of the mountains. The accommodations are confortable and clean with beautiful views. The food is amazing, they take care of having a balanced and delicious menu every day. I miss their food so much!!!!

Two weeks ago I completed my 300hrs Yoga teacher training at Rishikul Yogshala in Rishikesh, and I consider myself lucky and privileged to have received the trainings from the teachers we had. I have thanked each one of them individually, and here I thank the school for being professional, caring, well structured, disciplined, and at the same time very light in its system.

I now feel so rich with the amount of knowledge I gathered, topics exposed to and techniques learnt. I have advanced physically and in my own practice, and most notably learnt the foundations of yoga postures in an intense and engraving manner from brilliantly qualified teachers. I have learnt so much more than I thought I would through every topic, and each class complements the other whether it’s anatomy, philosophy or Asana. Sincere effort has been put to develop a wholesome harmonized curriculum.

Beyond the technical practice, I personally benefited from deep spiritual experiences through our meditation classes and Pranayama, especially being in Rishikesh and always surrounded with that elevated sensation.

The school itself and the teachers serve spirituality at the palm of their hands, and the teachers humble you in their service of knowledge to students, their genuine concern and eagerness for us to learn. Not to forget how all staff members are extremely helpful and pleasant at all times. Rooms are clean, adequately furnished, comfortable and spacious. Each meal has a variety of options, and the school also takes into consideration dietary restrictions; so all you have to do is communicate.

To sum up, this course and my choice of the school are the best things I have done for myself yet. I have grown and gained more confidence, skill and courage to move forward. I wish the entire team and the school all the best in their individual and collective journeys. A huge piece of me remains at Rishikul Yogshala and I am eternally grateful to everyone, and to everything I received.

strongly recommend Rishikul Yogshala to everyone who want to practice yoga and who want to share his practice with others. I finished 200YTT in Rishikesh. I appreciated the effortless effort  :) of the teachers to make us understand each subject of yogic science: asanas, pranayama, philosophy, anatomy, meditation, yoga nidra, cleansing practices. After one month you will realize how little you know and they will really inspire you to deeper your practice and knowledge. It is a great adventure to meet people from all over the planet and to experience together what yoga really is. Thank you Vipin Baloni and Prashantj - the best Hatha Yoga and Ashtanga Yoga teachers! I will come back for sure.

Hari Om!

I recently completed my 200hr yoga teacher training course at Rishikul Yogshala and I absolutely loved the experience. The environment facilitated a space for personal, physical and mental growth. Each teacher had a way of challenging and inspiring me both in their given field e.g. Ashtanga and as individual characters. The staff are lovely and will try their best to accommodate to all needs. Choosing to complete my teacher training in India has been most fruitful because I have had the opportunity to learn from an entirely different culture to my own and learn yoga in the traditional way. It's also well priced which is another indicator of how much they want to share and make yoga accessible to people.

Thank you !!

We visited Rishikul Yogshala for the second time this February, the first was in July 2013. That visit changed my life so completely and in such a fulfilling way - I just felt drawn back to this school and their teachers. I am so happy I did return. Being around such inspiring, energetic and wise people, I feel truly blessed and moreover, I feel like it's more than I deserve. They are so full of life lessons I wouldn't have learnt at home, they inspire me to be a better person. Their warmth, energy and inspiration was like a recharge for me in such a way that upon returning, everyone told me I am glowing. I feel humble and grateful for this experience and I hope I will be able to give forth what they've given me, even if it's only a fraction; thank you for this amazing experience. I will be back!

My journey at Rishikul Yogshala was wonderful. The group of instructors is amazing and under their guidance, I got a complete knowledge of yoga, philosophy, meditation and teaching skills. They pay attention to each student and are always ready to answer all your question, even to your personal problems. The place with mountains looks awesome. The accommodation and food was good and the entire staff was very helpful.

Has been a great experience, I special like the balance in the professors of the school. The curriculum is well planned. I like the yoga asana and alignment classes. I enjoyed hatha and vinyasa class and also feeling happy to learn well related to anatomy and philosophy, culture of yoga in India. Besides great experience with the teachers and classes, the staff was helpful. Due to small group, I get good time to ask personal questions. The accommodation is nice with privacy. The food is delicious. Thank you so much, everyone.

I was a beginner in Yoga and was looking for a program that can enhance my personal yoga skills. I appreciate the Rishikul Teachers for enlightening me with the exceptional knowledge of ashtanga yoga, hatha yoga, yoga philosophy, pranayama, anatomy and mantras. The course schedule was well planned. The accommodations facilities and food was very nice. The management and the kitchen staff were so helpful and sweet. If you are looking for real studies of yoga and a wonderful Indian hospitality, go for Rishikul Yogshala.

Arriving a week later than the course, i was worried to miss out on a lot of information and teachings. But all my worries flew away as all the teachers were so helpful that they helped me to cope with the missed out information. Furthermore, the group of students were very welcoming and entertaining at the same time. The view from my private room and the food prepared by the chefs was mouth-watering. Not spicy at all. We were brought to many small trips around the city with a guide. The classes flow into each other without any difficulty and everything has been paced out after close consideration. I am really lucky to be a part of this amazing course.

I highly recommend Rishikul Yogshala to everyone practicing all levels of yoga. I attended the 200 hour TTC July 2015 and I still glow every time I think about my experience. The curriculum is just amazing and well designed. The course is very intense and it covers deeply lots of subject. The day starts at 5.30 in the morning with Hatha classes, followed by pranayama and mantra or yoga nidra. After breakfast, there are yoga philosophy classes followed by anatomy classes.

After lunch, adjustment and alignment classes are really interesting and important (to be able to know how to correct your own asanas and your future students' too). I was also able to deepen my practice in ashtanga day by day as each posture is taught one by one. And after ashtanga the day finishes with meditation at 18:00. So a very intense day covering all kind of yoga aspects to give you a better understanding of yoga. Teachers are outstanding, extremely professional and enthusiastic, you can't get enough of their wisdom. I learned important lessons about yoga and the yogic life and the course gave me a solid foundation to continue exploring and expanding my knowledge in yoga. I had a wonderful experience at Rishikul yogshala. The school met all my expectations and in some cases were exceeded. And the food is delicious organic vegetarian food from the Himalayas. Don't miss this amazing experience!!

Mallory

The teachers are incredible and share their wisdom generously and with compassion. The venue (Nepal Sept 2015) is comfortable enough and staffed by warm, welcoming people who will do anything within their power to make you feel at home (like, literally tore down a wall for me -- long story, but seriously--untold hospitality).

If you are looking for a Western YTT experience, you may want to stay in the West. Yes--the cushions are old and lumpy, the wifi is spotty, you may be awoken by the sounds of construction (i.e. "development") on your rare day off, grow tired of the rotating menu, or find yourself frustrated with ways of being or perceiving that seem unfamiliar...but aren't you here for the yoga? If you embrace the quirks and surprises of international travel, the challenges that come with intercultural exchange, and the growing pains of an expanding comfort zone, the rewards will not disappoint.

If yoga is expansion, the last month has been a magnificent explosion. I am eternally grateful to all of the amazing people who helped shape my journey. Nepal is safe and breathtaking in form and spirit. Pokhara was not affected by the earthquake, and things seemed to be returning to normal in Kathmandu. The economy, and thus the recovery, depends heavily on tourism--come support this beautiful place and its beautiful people!

Joanna

Pokhara is stunning and it's situated right in the heart of Nepal, surrounded by Himalayas. Tulsi Hotel is great, very central and all staff is friendly and super accommodating. The course itself is one of the beast treats I could ever given to myself, for sure. Vast variety of subjects from Hatha and Ashtanga through all sorts of pranayamas, krijas, alignment, therapy, anatomy, mantra classes ending every school day on a wonderful meditation. I've learned heaps from the best teachers on earth. They are all very different but all equally inspiring. I can definitely recommend it to everyone, no matter what path of their life they're on. Thank you Rishikul!!!!

Inspiring, life-changing and unforgettable! Rishikul has filled 4 weeks with something to suit every type of yogi: physically intensive, deeply spiritual or curiously theoretical. They have have gone above and beyond to ensure this course is well worth your while: food to cater to very specific diets (varied and very delicious!), mini field trips that were the highlight of the course and always making sure to be available to you. My training was in Lakeside Pokhara, Nepal. It's setup in a hotel and it worked surprisingly well: central location, great facilities and amazing staff. Be prepared for long days but, if you keep an open mind, Rishikul's YTT is bound to change you.

Choosing a yoga school in Rishikesh is a difficult task as there is an incredible offer. Rishikul Yogshala was recommended to me by a yoga teacher with whom I was going to drop in classes in Rishikesh and it was a great recommendation! Their curriculum is well developed, I loved all subjects, the place is quiet, clean and cosy, the food is delicious… But I especially liked Rishikul Yogshala because of their teachers. All of them were very knowledgeable and dedicated to their job and shared and transmitted to the students their love and passion for yoga. I can’t wait to get back and do the 300h TTC with them!

Casey Wade

I attended the 200hr training course at Rishikul Yogshala and I have to say, I was incredibly impressed with my experience. Not only did I feel I was receiving top notch training but the teachers really do feel like they become family by the end of the training. All the courses are very interesting and the teachers are all very knowledgeable on the topic. There is an extremely positive energy in the school and among the staff. Additionally, the ayurvedic center in the school is wonderful and massages are very affordable. It was great being able to get a massage right in the same building you were staying. Lastly, the food was wonderful! Very fresh and a great variety. You can tell it was made with great care. If you are looking for a great training experience and a spiritual journey, I highly recommend Rishikul Yogshala!

If you are finding it really hard to decide which YTT school to chose in Rishikesh, then I can help you with that..this is the school to chose! My whole experience there was above and beyond anything I expected!

If you are finding it really hard to decide which YTT school to chose in Rishikesh, then I can help you with that..this is the school to chose! My whole experience there was above and beyond anything I expected! The school has this lovely energy and every person working there has a unique and beautiful character, they are very caring and open and you just become family with all of them! The yoga teachers there are some of the top teachers in Rishikesh!! They are so well practiced and knowledgeable and I feel really privileged to have learned from them. I learned so many things that I was doing wrong before in my practice and they showed me the right way!! The whole program is very well planned out, it is an intensive learning course but they have made sure to leave space for free time and some fun, they put on nice social gatherings at the school and I really loved the excursions especially rafting on the ganges!!! Oh and the food is awesome! There is a lot of care and love that goes into the food, which makes a big difference!! Overall, I give the school a 10 out of 10, they have become a huge part of my life and I hope to go back soon to complete my full 500hr training!

Me and my wife just finished the 200ttc at Rishikul Yogshala in Rishikesh, and we couldn't be more grateful and happy we decided to end there after researching all the options. All the reviews about it are true. It definitely exceeded our expectations. Great teachers, very good ayurvedic food to keep up with the intensity of the practice, very nice people who made us feel at home from day 1. Im missing it already after a few days, considering coming back for the 300h :) Great set up as well, very quiet, amazing jungle views, apart from the hectic Laksmanjula. Very very complete!

HARI OM . Start with one quote ''When you are inspired by some great purpose, some extraordinary project, all your thoughts break their bonds: Your mind transcends limitations, your consciousness expands in every direction, and you find yourself in a new, great and wonderful world. Dormant forces, faculties and talents become alive, and you discover yourself to be a greater person by far than you ever dreamed yourself to be.”

Someone told me before I went, I couldn't even imagine how life changing it would be.....they were right ❤️ I completed my 200 hour yoga teacher training with rishikul yogashala in Kerela and I can honestly say it's one of the best things I have done and since then I look at everything differently.....life changing!!! I took away so much more then I ever expected. The teachers were what really made it such a great experience, Sweet Kavita Ji we had for mantra and meditation class, her heart is so full of love and she made everyone feel so relaxed in meditation that it was easy and it was a perfect way to finish off the day. She was also always there for me to talk to even now and to give the best hugs. She was always looking after me which is so nice when you are so far from home. Benkat Ji our 5.30am Hatha teacher......it was a perfect way to start the day the class and himself made waking up that early that bit easier and he understood that we were tired and always asked us how we were feeling before the class and if we said really tired etc he would do a nice relaxed hatha class. He is also very funny without even realising it :) Prana Ji our pranayama and yoga philosophy teacher, I learnt so much from him.....even about myself and probably stuff that at the time I wasn't sure of, but with time I understood and I am so thankful for that. His pranayama classes were just so WONDERFUL and I can honestly say have had a lasting effect on me and my life.

The no-brainer choice for western yoga students looking to study close to the 'root' while getting YTT certified. The course / teachers: During my 500 hour training (200hr + 300hr back to back) in Rishikesh the team at Rishikul quickly became family, helping me reach new levels in my personal practice physically, mentally and spiritually. These aren't just teachers but are awesome human beings who don't just talk the talk, but also walk the walk. Truly, new lifelong friends. While intense, the knowledge, support and abilities of all the teachers is truly exceptional and students genuinely open to ways of thinking/being will be glad they choose to spend this time at Rishikul.

I have just finished my 200 TTC course. It was a life changing experience! Learnt so much! The teachers were so knowledgeable and friendly. The food was amazing, everyday different. The ambiance was professional but relaxed in the same time. I had a single accommodation and really enjoyed it, everything you need. They organized really nice excursion on days off like sunrise in the mountain... Would recommend this place anytime and will probably be back for my 300 hours course

Daria Shiels

I have just completed the 200hours yoga teacher training with these guys and absolutely loved every minute of it. The course was taught by people who were not only excellent teachers but also amazing human beings who share their knowledge and space with joy.

Gwynneth Oceana Dreaming

A fantastic course with wonderful teachers and a mix of students from all over the globe (in the 200hr YTT course I did). In this course you receive teachings in many areas of Yoga - Asanas, Pranayama, Philosophy, Meditation, adjustment and alignment of postures, teacher methodology, Mudras, a little Mantra and even chair Yoga! (for people less mobile). I loved everything about this course and I am still feeling the ripple effect of the philosophical teachings in my life.

I highly recommend this course to anyone wanting to learn Yoga teaching in India. India is the birth place of Yoga and the teachers at this school are world class. This school is managing to bridge the gap between the traditional Yogic mind and manner and the Western world, in a way which honours tradition, gives deep insight and amazing practical teachings whislt maintaining the wonderful Indian charm, but also allows a western student to go home with all the tools as a teacher for a western market and much much more! I could not have asked for a better Yoga teacher course as this nurtures and inspires body, mind and soul. One day I hope to return to do their 300YTT smile emoticon. Thank you to a wonderful team and students, who are now part of my Yogic family.
